What is a chiropractic care plan?

A structured, phased treatment schedule a chiropractor creates for a patient, typically divided into relief, corrective, and maintenance phases, to address spinal misalignment and related issues.

A chiropractic care plan is a personalized treatment outline your chiropractor develops after examining your spine and assessing your condition. Rather than a one-off adjustment, it maps out a series of visits organized into distinct phases, each with its own goals and frequency.

Most plans follow a three-phase structure. The relief phase targets acute pain or discomfort through frequent adjustments, often several times weekly, to reduce symptoms quickly. Once acute pain subsides, the corrective phase begins, using adjustments and therapeutic exercises to address underlying spinal misalignment and stabilize the spine. This phase typically involves fewer visits spread over a longer period. The maintenance phase follows, usually consisting of monthly or periodic visits to prevent recurrence and keep the spine functioning well.

The plan clarifies how many visits you need, how often you should come, and what to expect at each stage. This helps patients understand the treatment trajectory and make informed decisions about their care. In the Klang Valley, many clinics present care plans after the initial consultation, letting patients know whether their issue requires intensive correction or lighter ongoing maintenance.

Plans vary based on your specific diagnosis, injury history, and health goals. A chiropractor may adjust frequency or extend phases depending on how your body responds to treatment.
